What is Lydia’s House?

Lydia’s House Mission

Lydia’s House Ministries is a Christ-Centered program helping hurting women transform their lives through discipleship, restoration and community.

Lydia’s House Vision

Lydia’s House Ministries works to equip each woman we serve with a biblical foundation of Christ-Centered living, offering her the tools and support needed to be sober, healthy, and free.

At Lydia’s House, we provide an environment where women can recover, rest, and grow into who Christ created them to be. It is a place of love, hope, acceptance and restoration where she will be welcomed into a family, sisterhood, and new community in which she can fully live out God’s call for her life. By His strength, we aspire to walk in truth, integrity, humility, and grace as we surrender fully to Christ and His will for all we encounter; working in unity with Christ and one another. As she experiences Christ’s love and restoration, she becomes a disciple full of hope, walking in freedom as a new creation in Christ, connected to her new church family and Lydia’s House community.

Lydia’s House Ministry Foundation

Lydia’s House is built upon Christ and His character, framed by these Truths found in His Word:

Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
– Isaiah 43:18-19

At Lydia’s House, we provide an environment where women can recover, rest, and grow in who Christ created her to be. It is a place of love, hope, acceptance, and restoration where she will be welcomed into a family, sisterhood, and new community in which she can fully live out God’s call for her life. By His strength, we aspire to walk in truth, integrity, humility, and grace as we surrender fully to Christ and His will for all we encounter, working in unity with Christ and one another. As she experiences Christ’s love and restoration, she becomes a disciple full of hope, walking in freedom as a new creation in Christ, connected to her new church family and Lydia’s House community.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
– 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Lydia’s House Anchors of Faith

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
– Colossians 3:12-17

Truth

The body of real things, events, and facts; the state of being the case; a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality.

God and His Word are the Truth, and we operate in that belief, allowing His Word and character to change our hearts and minds.

“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” – John 17:17
“The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.” – Psalm 119:160

Integrity

Firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values.

Integrity is doing what is right, whether in the presence of others or not, at all times.

“To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” – Proverbs 21:3
“For we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of man.” – 2 Corinthians 8:21

Humility

Freedom from pride or arrogance.

It is considering others—their needs—higher than ourselves, and it is being aware of our own struggles and brokenness—not thinking we are better than someone else—and allowing Jesus in to those places.

“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.” – Romans 12:3
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” – Philippians 2:3-4
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” – John 4:30

Grace

Unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification; a virtue coming from God; a state of sanctification enjoyed through divine assistance.

It is the unearned favor—getting what we don’t deserve, out of love—from God that we then strive to extend to ourselves and others.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth…For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” – John 1:14,16
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” – Titus 2:11-14
“Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.” – Luke 6:36

Unity

The quality or state of oneness; a condition of harmony; continuity without deviation or change (as in purpose or action); the quality or state of being made one.

Only when we move forward with a common purpose can we have unity in and with Christ.

There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” – Ephesians 4:4-6
“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.” – Philippians 2:1-2

Love

Unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another: such as the fatherly concern of God for humankind and brotherly concern for others.

Because of God’s love for mankind, we can become people of love—concern for others in a way that shows honor and care, and is evidence of our transformation in Christ.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” – John 13:34-35
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” – Galatians 5:13

Hope

A person or thing in which expectations are centered.

Because of God’s faithfulness to fulfill all of His promises, we place our hope in Jesus, the fulfillment of the promised salvation. Because of this hope, we can be confident of our position as children of God and that we will spend eternity with Him.

“So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” – Hebrews 6:17-20
“For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” – Romans 8:22-25
